Resources for people with hearing loss

People are at the heart of Rinri’s work. Hearing loss, and how this condition affects everyday lives are central to everything we do. To ensure that we never lose sight of this, we work closely with people with lived experiences of hearing loss throughout the development of our cell therapy. We also work with charities, hospitals, academic institutions and industry bodies, inside and outside the hearing loss space, to guide our development and raise awareness of hearing health.

What is Rinri’s therapeutic approach to treating hearing loss?2023-04-05T09:09:54+00:00

Hearing in humans is managed by a specialised organ called the cochlea, found in the inner ear. The cochlea contains two types of specialised cells that detect sound and transmit this sound to the brain. Rinri is developing the world’s first regenerative cell therapies capable of repairing these damaged cells in the cochlea.

What is Rincell-1 designed to treat?2023-05-04T16:30:41+00:00

Damage to the auditory neurons of the inner ear can lead to hearing loss. Rinri’s first product, Rincell-1, is designed to regenerate these damaged auditory neurons in the inner ears of patients.

Our pre-clinical research clearly demonstrates that Rincell-1 can produce new specialised cells, called auditory neurons, in the inner ear. This enables neural connections to be re-established between the ear and the brain. In models of hearing loss caused by damaged auditory neurons, Rincell-1 results in a reversal of hearing loss and a 40% improvement in hearing tests in a laboratory setting.

How can I learn if I am eligible for a clinical trial?2023-05-04T16:21:50+00:00

For information regarding ongoing clinical trials, and evaluating our drug candidates, please refer to Be Part of Research (nihr.ac.uk) and follow up with your healthcare provider. You may search by disease, location of clinical trials, or by the name of the company sponsoring the clinical trials. Additionally, you can find information on clinical trials on the RNID website.

When will clinical trials of Rincell-1 be available in other countries?2023-02-06T16:55:44+00:00

Rinri is currently focused on developing Rincell-1 and its application in the UK.

When will Rincell-1 become commercially available?2023-02-06T16:55:28+00:00

To stay informed on the status of our clinical studies, please reference our latest press releases and the Investors & Media section of our website.

Will Rincell-1 be used as a potential treatment for other conditions?2023-04-05T09:11:11+00:00

Rincell-1 is being developed to restore hearing in patients with age-related hearing loss, which is the most common form of sensorineural hearing loss, or Auditory Neuropathy. As trials progress, it may have further applications.
